We had an incredible stay at the Rifugio Ospitale. It's perfectly situated close to Cortina d'Ampezzo, but also close to the sites we wanted to visit (Tre Cime, Lago di Braies) and very picturesque. There are great views from every window and lovely walking paths just across the street, as well as a fresh, cold source of drinking water. We stayed in Room 4 (a quad room), which was spacious and clean, with amazing views and a good cross breeze when the windows were opened, although there were no window screens and definitely some mosquitos. It doesn't seem that there's A/C (or at least it wasn't on when we were there - mid June). Breakfast was plentiful and quite good, if basic. It's entirely worth it to stay here just for how gorgeous and isolated it is, although I would recommend against dining at the restaurant.

We stopped here on the way from Porticello and enjoyed some delicious food and drink. The onion soup was very expensive but it was so tasty and well worth the money!

Beautiful location if you're looking for something away from the towns and to feel more secluded in the wilderness. Surrounded by beautiful mountains with hikes across the road. The morning breakfast service was impeccable. Greeted by Claudia each morning who was very warm, kind and remembered your coffee and tea order each day. Very spacious rooms which were cleaned daily.

Food and service are only surpassed by the views. Tough hike from rifugio scoiatolli, but manageable. It is only about a 40 minute hike from there but straight up, and worth it. Polenta and goulash, pasta with mushrooms and sausage with polenta was the winner of the day.

We spent one night here. Super clean rooms, big and comfortable bed. With closed windows, you cannot hear the noise of the street. The restaurant is really nice. The owners are helpful. The breakfast is excellent.

Great location, very quiet and yet close to downtown Cortina We stayed one night in a triple room and it was SO CLEAN and everything seemed new/renovated Breakfast was great with lots of options The price was very fair and reasonable, AND there's an elevator!! I wish we stayed here one more night!

Stayed one night and had dinner in the restaurant. The rooms themselves are quite spacious, which was nice. We had two windows which had a nice view of the area and brought in a nice breeze, which was essential as the air conditioning was nonexistent. Bathroom also pretty large. Check-in was easy enough and they had ample parking. It's a little bit out of the way and certainly not walkable to town, but that's what we expected for a rifugio. For convenience, we ate dinner in the restaurant, which was actually more crowded than I was expecting. The dishes were good, nothing really so memorable but hit the spot. We got: fried artichokes (nice sauce, great presentation), tagliatelle with mushrooms (I quite enjoyed the butteriness of the pasta and the chunks of a mushroom I don't typically eat), beet ravioli (interesting texture, enjoyed the brown butter sauce), and the ossobuco (tender, sizable portion of meat, enjoyed the polenta). We asked for recommendations for dessert and went with the kaiserschmarren-not a dish I've had before and I didn't quite care for it and found it to be a bit bland but maybe that's what it is supposed to be. One thing I didn't quite understand about the hotel is that the lights for each floor seem to turn off immediately so when you enter a new floor you have to turn them on each time. This wasn't such a big deal but for example when I was carrying drinks upstairs, it became a bit difficult to see where I was going. Breakfast the morning we left was simple but had enough for anyone to find what they'd want. Service was super pleasant, helpful, made for an easy stay.
